Virtual Umbrella at London Tech Week 2016
London Tech Week is back for 2016.
During the whole week, lots of events were hosted in London, among them many VR dedicated events as well as tech event where VR was always one of the hot topics. While part of the team was in California to cover E3 and meet VR friends, Virtual Umbrella was also in London to meet the London Tech Week community and talk about Virtual Reality.
Here was the agenda for the week!
Monday 20th
- Macunx VR launch at Barclays’s Rise London
Many short talks and mini panels followed by demonstrations sessions. What a great way to start the week seeing people excited to try for the first time Microsoft’s Hololens.
Tuesday 21st
- “Is VR the Future of Content? ” by Oslwang and GP Bullhoundat the Andaz Hotel
One panel discussion with Nvidia, HTC, Visualise and Ninja Theory, followed by networking and demonstrations. During this event, we had the chance to discuss the future of VR and the use of VR content with many corporations and startups. - “Beyond the Material: Interactive and Virtual Medium in Art” by Gazelli Art House
Panel and exchanges regarding the use of VR in Art.
Wednesday 22nd
- Decoded’s Breakfast networking with 1-1 speed networking and talks including “Why Virtual Reality is the key to immortality”.
- “Tech City UK is 5” party at WeWork Moorgate
Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to this party but our friends at Visualise were doing demonstrations during the whole evening and it seems they had a great time.
Thursday 23rd
- Mixed Immersion audio experience demonstration at Inition studio.
We had the chance to try out many audio demonstrations including breathtaking Virtual Reality experiences. - “Virtual Reality: Key commercial and legal issues” by Harbottle & Lewis.
A unique panel with Sony’s former studio director, Hammerhead VR and Wizdish, followed by networking in Harbottle and Lewis offices. - Global VR challenge – VR mixer at BFI
International competition to celebrate and reward the best of British and European VR game makers. The final winners will be rewarded with a paid trip to ChinaJoy, the biggest game show in Shangai as well as $35,000 grand prize. - SubPac First audio-led VR experience
The agenda? No agenda! Lots of demos in a lovely bar with of course SubPac, Draw&Code, Marshmallow Laser Feast studio, Mass Appeal and studio Amplify.
Friday 24th
- No time for a sleepy morning after all the evening events on Thursday. We started the day with a morning talk and networking event by EnvisionUK: “Technology and the Future of Travel” where we learned a lot about the tech evolution and issues in the travel industry.
