In the Summer of 2019, we provided specialist support for the showcase of ‘Fly’ at the Saatchi Gallery, London. Created by visionary VR director, Charlotte Mikkelborg, ‘Fly’ forms part of the gallery’s BA 2119: Flight of the Future exhibition, exploring humankind’s relationship to flight. It takes viewers on an incredible virtual journey through the history of air travel, from the earliest imaginings of Leonardo Da Vinci, to today’s A350 and beyond. ‘Fly’ also makes ‘first-of-its-kind’ use of multi-sensory technology to bring the feeling of flight to life like never before.
Our team was engaged by the project creator to make sure the experience ran smoothly. This involved learning how to operate and troubleshoot a complex networked experience which included: three PC’s running on Linux and Windows, a custom motion platform, an Arduino based multi-sensory system, and the HTC Vive Pro headset with Vive Trackers.
In addition, we made sure everything stayed on schedule, managing customers from 10am-6pm each day (with paying customers arriving every 15 minutes). We also took responsibility for all customer enquiries on behalf of the project creator & British Airways across 26 individual Eventbrite pages.
